From Ms. Roberts:
It’s been a fun week in our classroom! We had our first experience with a substitute in the classroom due to a meeting that I needed to attend. The class did pretty well as a whole, and I was very proud of them. The students have been enjoying moments where their classmates bring in things for show and tell. I allow 2 students a day to share, and since it is getting to be so popular, I am thinking of making a schedule so that you can know when to expect that your student is participating. Everyone was very excited when we got to use the computers yesterday. Every student has their own computer that no one else uses, and they are very proud of that fact. So far, we have begun classes in my Google Classroom in writing and Social Studies. It will be fun to see how well they do! Important Dates andUpcoming Events:

From Ms. Roberts:
This has been a super busy week! Our class earned its first congratulations from the Principal, being entered into a drawing for a free recess! I am very proud of how the class has been doing as a whole. This week in Science, the students have been extending their learning about the human body, figuring out that the smallest part of us is an atom. Social Studies has integrated voting and a system of economy into our classroom this week. The students are rather excited about that. In writing, the class is delving into the interpretation of two poems, seeing how the poems relate to each other. After writing their first draft, the students will be extending their interpretation to a piece of art. It’s great seeing how different their opinions are! Important Dates and Upcoming Events:
HOMEWORK:
Fantastic job on attendance this week! We have had perfect attendance twice! Congrats Kiersten and Delaney on having your artwork chosen for the classroom bucks! J Another week gone by already,
If you are like me, the time is whizzing by. When I think about how quickly the month is going, it makes my mind whir on how soon the time to grade will arrive! The students have been doing much better this week after familiarizing themselves of school policies. The summer drowsiness has begun to dissipate and we are all getting back into the swing of things. SFA, the reading program, began this Monday, and all students are deep into their Eureka/Engage NY math, some of which bringing home homework. When the students are in my class, they do not always have homework as I give them some time to work on what they do not have finished in class. Science also began this week, and we are having a great time familiarizing ourselves with how to diagnose issues with the human body!
Wow! We made it!
We had a great first week of 6th grade! The class was great as we learned all the rules for the classroom and school. We did a few art projects in the classroom and began delving into our math, science, and social studies projects. All the kids have been beginning their day with creative writing. It’s been great seeing how well they can put what they see in their imagination on paper! We have also been filling out applications for the classroom jobs. The class will be deciding on a name and designing a classroom “buck”, or dollar, that the students will earn through their good behavior in the classroom. It will be great to see what they come up with.
